America Ferrera Honors Barbie in Metallic Pink Gown at 2024 Oscars

This Barbie is an Oscar nominee. America Ferrera channeled her fierce Barbie character, Gloria, on the Oscars red carpet tonight.

The actor looked fabulous in a metallic pink gown custom made by Atelier Versace that paid homage to the film. She paired the shimmery bodycon dress with silver platform heels by Stuart Weitzman, a chunky diamond Pomellato necklace with red rubellites, and a matching ring. As for glam, she opted for minimal rosy makeup and a side-parted bob.

Her husband, Ryan Piers Williams, came out to support her on her big night, too, and walked the carpet with her in a classic black tux. (An actor himself, Williams actually had a funny cameo in Barbie as Gloria’s husband.)

The 96th Academy Awards ceremony is taking place at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre.

Ferrera earned her first Oscar nod this year for her role in the record-breaking, history-making Greta Gerwig film starring the famous doll. The actor has been widely praised for her role as a real-world Mattel employee and working mom, and in particular for the powerful monologue she delivers about the impossibly difficult lived experience of being a woman.

“I’m still processing. Needless to say- wow! What a thing! Childhood dream realized. 😭🤯 Thank you @theacademy @barbiethemovie and the Queens Greta and Margot who we all know deserve everything for what they gifted the world! 💖,” Ferrera wrote in an Instagram post in January, celebrating her major achievement.

She is nominated for Best Actress in a Supporting Role, along with Emily Blunt (Oppenheimer), Danielle Brooks (The Color Purple), Jodie Foster (Nyad), and Da’Vine Joy Randolph (The Holdovers).

Barbie costar Ryan Gosling is also nominated in the male-equivalent category, Best Actor in a Supporting Role, for his performance as Ken. Gosling will also perform his Oscar-nominated movie hit “I’m Just Ken” at the ceremony.

While Barbie got eight Oscar nods, none were for lead star Margot Robbie, and Gerwig was not nominated in the Directing category. “I was incredibly disappointed that they weren’t nominated,” Ferrera told Variety in January.
